Missionary Oblate Fathers
Close to the Sanctuary of the Afflicted Virgin Mary (Santuario della Madonna Addolorata) stands the “College”. This name means a place where people “live together.” Indeed here live some diocesan priests which choose common life, to testify that Jesus is the beginning of a new life of communion, and to help and support themselves in the office of preaching popular Missions and spiritual Exercises. Founded by St. Carlo Borromeo in 1578, the Oblates are currently composed by four families: missionaries, vicars,
diocesans and brothers.
The Missionary Oblates recognize their founder in the venerable father
Giorgio Maria Martinelli (1656 –1727). The foundation of the College dates back to 1714.
